Note from Tamara - The quintessential 19th century shophouse is a daily Cambodian sight. These beautiful old buildings are scattered throughout the country, from the big cities to the smaller provincial towns. They have stood proud for over a hundred years in some cases and have inspired the ever-changing face of Cambodia’s unique architecture.
Tamara Venn is originally from London and studied at Central St Martin’s College of Art & Design. Her work can be seen around Cambodia and the UK. The brilliance and fragility of nature in an increasingly developed environment is the subject that runs throughout her work. Each work celebrates the beauty of the natural world as illustrated by her mission statement, “If we take care of the natural world now, we will not be left with only painted reminders of what was once here.”
