A Note from Tamara: The iconic status of the red plastic chair is easy to understand when you walk down any street in Cambodia. They are everywhere - and serve everyone - from happy eaters at busy road side restaurants, to hospital waiting rooms to sleepy security guards. This is my appreciation for the humble, yet essential, plastic chair.
Tamara Venn is originally from London and studied at Central St Martin’s College of Art & Design. Her work can be seen around Cambodia and the UK. The brilliance and fragility of nature in an increasingly developed environment is the subject that runs throughout her work. Each work celebrates the beauty of the natural world as illustrated by her mission statement, “If we take care of the natural world now, we will not be left with only painted reminders of what was once here.”
