Note from Tamara - The lotus flower is deeply rooted in Cambodian culture. It is regarded as sacred and symbolizes enlightenment, spiritual growth and purity. It’s associated with the idea of rising above obstacles, just like the flower emerges from the muddy pond to bloom in all its beauty.
Tamara Venn is originally from London and studied at Central St Martin’s College of Art & Design. Her work can be seen around Cambodia and the UK. The brilliance and fragility of nature in an increasingly developed environment is the subject that runs throughout her work. Each work celebrates the beauty of the natural world as illustrated by her mission statement, “If we take care of the natural world now, we will not be left with only painted reminders of what was once here.”
